What we do
ARCHES is a European project to make art and its cultural experience accessible for all, using technology and a participatory research approach. The interdisciplinary Consortium consists of six important museums, four tech companies and two universities. Tactile reliefs made by state-of-the-art 3D modelling techniques, accessible apps and games for smartphones and tablets, together with sign-language avatars are the cutting-edge technologies proposed by the ARCHES Team. They have been co-designed and tested by more than 200 disabled people in Spain, Austria and the UK. Their focus has been upon the tools people can use, such as audio-description, sign-language, simplified information, or step-free access.
